On Saturday, October 17th some members from AMTAS (American Music Therapy Association for Students) participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Canandaigua, NY. On top of being able to meet new  people, walk through a beautiful neighborhood, there is just something about the consistent support of others around you trying to fight against this disease that makes it all worth it.

As soon as we arrived at the walk, we were immediately greeted and introduced as the “Girls from Nazareth.” We were given shirts, got our picture taken, and then were the first to get the party started while dancing to every song that the DJ played (mostly to stay warm). Oh and did I mention that it was a whopping 35 degrees? Well that didn’t stop us! We had a great time as the walk started, admiring the amazing scenery and walking though a zen garden with many Instagram-worthy moments.

Before we started the walk, we were sure to pick up our “Promise Garden Flowers”. These were flowers of 4 different colors that each symbolize something different.

Blue: I have Alzheimer’sIMG_4903.

Yellow: I am supporting or caring for someone with Alzheimer’s.

Purple: I have lost someone to Alzheimer’s.

Orange: I support the cause and vision a world without Alzheimer’s.
