You’ve taken your SATS, written your essays, sent in your applications, and gotten back some acceptances…maybe you’ve even made your decision! If you’re anything like I was, you may think that when you put down a deposit, the hardest part of the college application process is over but nothing quite compares to what comes next. The period of time between making a choice and actually getting to campus is filled with a wide array of thoughts, feelings, and questions. Will I have friends when I get there? What is everyday student life like? Are the beds twin or twin XL? Lucky for you, there are so many ways to connect with current Naz students as an incoming freshman that you’ll already feel like Nazareth is your home away from home before you arrive on campus for orientation, regardless of if you live five minutes from campus or five hours.

So whether you’ve already chosen Naz or you’re still trying to make a final decision, here are suggestions for making the most of the time that you’re #NazBound.

1) Read Through the “My Life as a Flyer” Blog Congratulations, if you’re reading this, you’re already there! The My Life as a Flyer page is a student blog featuring original content about students’ experiences with campus life, careers, coursework, and extracurriculars at Naz. Take some time and scroll through our posts to get a sense of everyday life at Naz and maybe get some clarification on any questions you may have.

2) Connect on Facebook and Other Social Media Uversity is our Facebook community for accepted students and is the perfect place to interact with present and future members of the Nazareth community. You can use filters to find and connect with members of your class with the same major, hometown, or interests. Some students use the app to search for potential roommates or you can use it just to find some friends early on so they’re be some familiar faces to meet up with when they get here in the fall. We also have current Nazareth students on the page – their profile pictures will have a blue banner that says staff on them – ready to provide guidance, answer any questions you may have, and share their personal experiences. If you’re not already a member make sure to join! You should have received an invitation in your email with a link to follow. If you have been accepted to the Nazareth College class of 2021 and haven’t received a link to join, contact Rebecca Stapley at rstaple0@naz.edu (just to clarify that’s a zero not the letter o).

In addition to Facebook, make sure you connect with us on Instagram (@nazarethstudents) and Twitter (@NazarethCollege and look for students’ accounts with handles @NAZ_StudentName like me @NAZ_Karah) to see what a typical day in the life of a Nazareth College student is like. Make sure to use and search for #NazBound to connect with other incoming students as well. We’ve also developed NazBound Social Covers so you can show your flyer pride to all your friends and follows! You can access them here.

3)Visit Us (Again!) Many of you have probably gone on a campus tour at least once during the application process, but visiting Naz as a future student is way different than visiting as a potential one! It’s a really incredible feeling walking around campus and seeing students going about their day knowing that will be you in a few short months. We offer two #NazBound Days that are exclusively open to accepted students where you can meet your future classmates, attend a class or two, eat in the dining hall, and participate in other fun activities and contests. For an even more immersive experience, consider one of our overnight stays. Be sure to check out a full list of accepted student events and register for one (or two!) here.

I speak for all of us on the social media team when I say congratulations on your acceptance to Nazareth! Reaching out to us initially on Facebook or Twitter might feel a little awkward but I promise it’s not! We are here to help in any way we can whether that’s clarifying what is or is not included in dorm rooms on campus, what clubs are available to students on campus, or just someone to talk to to relieve those pre-college jitters; believe us we’ve all been there and know what that’s like! We are so excited to have you as a part of the Golden Flyer family and can’t wait to get to know you!
