One of the most important things to consider when choosing a college is the food. You’re going to be eating at least 2 meals a day there for at least 2 years. Luckily, Naz has great food with a lot of variety that suits everyone’s different tastes and dietary needs. I’m going to be talking a bit about the different places to eat, and what my favorite thing to eat at each location is.

The Dining Hall – aka the DH, aka Lourdes & Kearney dining halls. This is going to be your main spot for food freshman and sophomore year while you live on campus, unless you’re commuting from home. The DH is a buffet style dining hall with the largest variety of foods to choose from. They have everything from grilled foods to pizza to sandwiches to dietary need friendly foods (such as gluten free or vegan foods) to daily specials including things like pulled pork or chicken parm, plus ice cream and a dessert bar. My favorite thing to eat at the DH is fried rice, specifically made by Jerry. Jerry only works at the DH during lunch, so the only time to get his delicious fried rice is if you stop by for lunch that day. The fried rice station offers made to order fried rice with different choices of meats, veggies, and sauces.

The Cabaka the Cabaret. Located inside Shults at the center of campus, the Cab is a great place to eat when you’re on the run or when you want a late night bite. At the Cab they have two different stations – the grill and the deli. The deli has made to order subs and wraps; think of it as our own personal Subway! They have items you can order off the menu, like a buffalo chicken wrap, or you can customize your own with the wide variety of meats, cheeses, veggies, and sauces. The grill has standard grill food such as hamburgers and hot dogs, but they also have things like mozzarella sticks and grilled cheese. My personal favorite things to get are a philly cheesesteak with peppers and onions or a chicken quesadilla. They also have to go boxes so everything you order can be brought with you anywhere on campus!

The RoostAlso located inside Shults, the Roost is the place to go if you’re looking for delicious nutritious foods. The Roost has build your own salads and wraps with over a dozen different veggies and toppings to put on. They also have sushi, such as avocado salad rolls, or Chinese food, such as sesame chicken. My favorite things to get at the Roost are their smoothies. You can get smoothies with or without yogurt, with or without Monster for an energy boost, or with add ons like protein powders. My favorite smoothie is the Campus Crush a “straight up fruit” smoothie. This is a wildberry smoothie which consists of strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries. Everything at the Roost is a delicious way to sneak some healthy food into your diet.

Sorelle’sAka Cafe Sorelle, is located in the basement of GAC. Sorelle’s features two different food stations, with made to order pizzas or calzones and burritos, tacos, quesadillas, and bowls with a variety of fresh vegetables and toppings. My personal favorite thing to get at Sorelle’s is just a pizza with pepperoni, but maybe that’s because I’m boring. Many people on campus love their burrito bowls; they even go as far as to compare them to bowls you can get from Chipotle. However as a simple girl, I love to just grab a personal pizza and a drink and enjoy that.

Naz has so many different things to eat on campus. Each location has its own unique foods they specialize in and everyone has their own personal favorite places to eat on campus. Also great is that you get one “meal trade” a day, which means that once a day you can use your dining hall swipe to get a meal at The Cab, Roost, or Sorelle’s. You can also use your declining balance, called “dining dollars” to eat at these places. Overall, Naz really specializes in food that you customize. At every place on campus, you can get exactly what you want however you want it made. That way you get your perfect meal every time.
