It’s acceptance season across the nation. Thousands of students are getting acceptance letters and emails, waiting for their turn to show off their college pride. And if you’re reading this, you’re probably one of those students!

Congratulations on your acceptance! All your hard work has led you to this moment, but it’s also the beginning of your journey. Here are some things you can do now that you’ve been accepted:

Show Your Gratitude

Thank the people in your life that have helped you get this far. Whether that be your family, friends, teachers who wrote your recommendation letters, music and theatre directors who helped with your auditions, coaches who helped you train – everyone matters. You can show your appreciation through written thank you letters or even in person. This little show of gratitude will definitely go a long way.

Celebrate

Whatever celebration means to you, indulge in that. Applying to colleges isn’t always the most fun process, but it’s obviously important. Celebrate the fact that filling out applications, writing essays, preparing auditions, and whatever else you had to do is finally over. Maybe that means dinner with your family, a party with your friends, or buying some gear from the Naz bookstore!

Visit Campus (Again)

Even if you’ve solidified your choice, it doesn’t hurt to come back to campus again. Take advantage of the events that the Admissions team (including me!) hosts during the Spring. These include the Scholar’s Brunch, Accepted Student Receptions, Spring Open Houses and NazBound Days. All of these events are a great way to get more of a feel for the campus. The NazBound Days and the Bus Trip are both days that the Admissions team at Naz offers exclusively to accepted students. If you’d like to stay in the dorms overnight with a current student, then the Bus Trip is for you! The Nazareth Admissions Team sends out buses to several cities and picks up accepted students so they can see what it’s like to live on campus, and then NazBound is the next day! I had the chance to host an accepted student last Spring and it was so fun getting to know them and helping to ease their anxiety about coming to college.

Get Some Perspective

If you’re reading this blog, then you’ve already accomplished the first step. Check out the other pages on Naz’s Student Blog to get the first-hand experiences of current Nazareth students. From dorm living to class profiles to things to do in Rochester, we try to cover all the aspects of college life that perspective (and accepted!) students are looking at. If you can, talk to current students outside of the blog and see what Naz is all about!
