If you’re into social media even a little bit, you know about the app TikTok. Although released in September of 2016, the app didn’t start to take off until the past 2 years. TikTok has become one of the largest growing social media platforms.

I have been able to work on the social media team over my past three years at Nazareth, and for the past year, I have been creating content for our TikTok account. TikTok is one of my more favorite apps to create content for because there are so many trends, sounds, and hashtags that are popular at one time and that can bring anyone to your page.

Another aspect of TikTok that is remarkable is its “for you page.” Like any app, you have a spot where you can view the content that the people you follow create, but there’s also TikTok’s algorithm for its ”for you page,” which is stellar. The majority of the videos are tailored to you and your likes, and content that you want to see and will likely interact with.

Over the past year, I have had a blast coming up with ideas with my coworkers and my supervisor. So today I will be sharing my top 3 favorite TikToks that we have created.

Coming in at #1 is a TikTok with my coworkers, Miyah and Kylee. The story behind this TikTok is that we were sitting in RA training and we had just finished talking about different policies that we had to know how to enforce around the halls. With COVID, we knew that mask-wearing would be a problem and that was what started our idea. We were first laughing about the different ways that we’ve seen people wear masks while out and about, which then turned to us making a TikTok about it.

My next favorite TikTok that we created would be the one that we made with a special needs student Cam. This TikTok was actually Kylee’s idea and I was just grateful to be a part of it. It started with Izzy, Cam’s sister, making a TikTok explaining that she wouldn’t be able to be on campus because her transfer wasn’t approved by the governor. But fast forward, Cam was approved and she was able to attend, so we made a TikTok with her dancing at the fountain, one of the best locations on campus.

My 3rd favorite TikTok that we’ve made thus far would be the first TikTok that we ever made. This dance had been trending for a while and I decided to ask my coach if we could do it after practice. She was totally up for it and she even cut practice a little earlier than expected just so we could film it.

Honorable mention for my favorite TikToks would be anything with Archie, the unofficial, official mascot for Naz. He may not be a golden flyer, but he is a golden retriever and he is one of the cutest pups that has ever walked the halls of Naz.

Creating content for TikTok has been one of my favorite parts of my job. It allows for so much creativity, while also stripping from the normal serious tone into one that is more relaxed. If you love TikTok as much as I do and want to check out Naz’s TikTok account, follow us @nazarethstudents.
