Every single semester of college I have worked on campus. For me, the benefits of on-campus work make such jobs better than working off campus. For an on-campus job, you are a student first, and a worker second. During busier weeks, this has been incredibly helpful because my employers understand that I may need to come in late from an exam, or shift when I work to accommodate a review session.
More perks: My set work hours every week fit around classes and my extracurricular schedule. And campus jobs have enabled me to explore my campus further, understand the history of Naz, and see our mission in action.
I work as a Student Ambassador for both Admissions and our Marketing and Communication team. I have had the opportunity to interview students at on-campus events, gain early access to some of our larger events, and show student life on campus. I am able to become more involved with campus and have become knowledgeable about the day-to-day operations of communicating with prospective and current students. I am amazed every day by the sheer amount of club offerings we have, events, and other opportunities that I am able to help promote each week for the college.
The benefits of working on campus go beyond the paycheck when I am able to become more involved with my campus community. Through working part-time for my own campus, I have learned that I enjoy working with members of my community, and I hope to continue that work in graduate school. I have also had an opportunity to explore interests outside of the classroom, such as assisting with event planning. Besides who else gets to say they were paid to attend our annual Spring Fest celebration, where we had food trucks, live music, games, and so much more!
