I have a twin brother and the joke in the family is that he went twelve hours away to college and I went twelve minutes away. Now you would expect that during my first year of college my family would see me all the time, but they actually saw him more frequently!

To be honest, My favorite Wegmans store hasn’t changed, and other familiar things are nearby. But also there’s lots that’s new.  I have made new memories at places I have visited before, and I had the opportunity to explore my city in a completely different light.

Since college, I have explored Buffalo Bills Stadium, a trampoline park, Artisan Works, Rochester Lilac Festival, Rochester Broadway Theatre League, Sunflower Spectacular, Charlotte Beach, the Rochester snow, and many different local parks and trails. These locations may have been used when I was younger for school dances or field trips, but since coming to college I have had completely different experiences at them.

With Naz, I have had the opportunity to go to a Bills game and be in the stands when the team won! I have visited the Rochester Lilac Festival and enjoyed the ambiance of spring in the park. I have had the opportunity to see CATS and Anastasia. Truthfully, I think Abbot’s ice cream just tastes all that much sweeter at Charlotte Beach when enjoying it with new and old friends.

While on campus, a typical weekend may look like attending some of our on-campus events. Who would want to go home when they can rollerblade, play bingo for groceries, strike their professors with dodgeballs, or enjoy food trucks on campus?! Close to campus, you may find students enjoying the village of Pittsford, Pittsford Plaza, or walking around Park Avenue in the City of Rochester. Pittsford Hots and their late-night garbage plates have quickly become a favorite of my friend group!

Sorry Mom & Dad, but with so much to do and see all around Rochester and campus, who would want to go home?! Expect of course if there is my mom’s eggplant parmigiana in which case I will be home in twelve!
