It’s that time of the year again when it’s necessary to look around and appreciate all the things I’m grateful for in my life. One of the most substantial parts of my life right now that I’m overwhelmingly thankful for is my education. What better time of the year to reflect on what I’m grateful for at Naz than the week of Thanksgiving?

Friends

I met some of my closest friends at Naz because we simply sat next to each other in a class 3 years ago. I’m an introvert, so naturally, I tried to avoid having to talk to anyone in my classes as a first-semester student. But luckily for me, my professors had the students in my class engage in conversations with each other every day, which helped me realize two things: 1) I shouldn’t be scared to get to know a person and 2) one conversation can lead you to so many new friendships.

A beautiful campus in all four seasons

In the summer, giant flower pots compliment the entrances to buildings that are covered in winding green vines. In the fall, the leaves on the trees shift the entire color scheme of campus from deep greens and bright pinks of flowers to vibrant orange, red, and yellow tints. In the winter, every inch of campus is covered in a gentle sheet of snow. In the spring, flowers begin to bloom around the corners of each building.

Projects and academic work

When someone asks me what factors led me to choose the academic and future career path I have, what comes to mind is the projects and programs I have been a part of because of the vast opportunities Naz offers. From a mental health awareness campaign to attending R/ADWEEK (Rochester Advertising Federation‘s Ad Week) events and interning in Washington, DC, each of these experiences adds another bullet to my list of reasons I love the work and projects I do at Naz.

Swag

It’s hard to resist walking past the bookstore without looking around and eventually buying more Naz swag. I haven’t yet figured out how many Naz sweatshirts are too many for one person to own, so I’m going to continue believing the number does not exist. During Thanksgiving break, I’ll be snuggled up in my purple Naz blanket, wearing my Naz sweatshirt and white squirrel socks, sipping hot chocolate from my Naz mug. Am I obsessed? Maybe. I’d say more like grateful, though.
