Welcome back! The third blog in my early decision series highlights two physical therapy students who have been, and continue to be, very involved with campus events, especially trips and retreats based on service and social injustice. Put your hands together for…..

Catherine (Katie) Fazio

Major: Physical Therapy

Minors: Psychology, Gerontology

Year: Junior, class of 2020/2022

Q: What made you choose early decision at Naz?

A: “My dad and aunt both went to Naz so I grew up knowing and loving the campus. When I realized I wanted to do Physical Therapy and saw that Naz had such a good program, it just felt right. I knew Naz was exactly where I wanted to go.”

Q: What are your favorite things about Naz since becoming a student?

A: “My favorite things about Naz are its communities. I have gained so many new friends though clubs and my classes (like PT club and JV Soccer). I also love how the professors really get to know you and will go out of their way to help you succeed in their class.”

Q: Can you talk about some retreat experiences you’ve had at Nazareth?

A: “Being at Naz, I have been able to go on service trips to St. Francis Inn (a soup kitchen in Pennsylvania), El Paso Texas for a border immersion trip, and on a trip to Germany and Poland to study the injustice that occurred during the Holocaust. I have heard great things about these trips before I attended them and I always have loved giving back to the community. With these trips, I have learned more about injustice for multiple groups of individuals and how to help fight against this injustice and educate others on the issues that are occurring.”

Margaret (Meg) Bateman

Major: Physical Therapy

Minors: Psychology, Gerontology

Year: 5th year, class of 2018, 2020

Q: What has your experience at Naz been like since deciding to apply early decision?

A: “One of the reasons I chose Nazareth was because I knew I wanted to help others. But before coming to Naz, I never imagined there would there would be so many ways of doing so! While at Naz, I’ve been able to participate in numerous things that help our local community as well as many other communities. I have been able to serve through our Partners for Learning program and go into the Rochester City Schools and help kids in their classes, gone to West Virginia and built houses, worked in our Physical Therapy clinic helping aid many local people with health services they may not otherwise receive, and many more opportunities. I know that Nazareth is putting me on the right path to be successful as a physical therapist both within and outside my program. I have been humbled to see the many ways that other service activities I have done tie into my future career!”
