Every young adult goes into college wondering where they’ll end up after their four years of learning, myself included. Thanks to my support system at Nazareth, I don’t have to worry about where I’ll end up anymore. The personalized experience I’ve had at Naz over the last four years has allowed me to grow so much as a person and really enhance my learning by establishing friendly relationships with my professors. Coming from a very small town, I had become accustomed to having close relationships with my teachers and classmates, which is something I found here at Nazareth too.

As a freshman, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to make friends or pick the right major for me, but with the help of my advisor and another teacher, I was able to make the right choice for myself and declare a legal studies major. I was encouraged to take different kinds of classes that might suit my interests and advised how to keep my study habits in check. I took an intro to media studies course my sophomore year and my teacher for the class ended up approaching me about declaring a communication major or minor because she thought I would be a good fit for the program. I decided it couldn’t hurt to take a few more communication classes and see if she was right.

I ended up loving all my communication classes and declared my second major in my sophomore year, along with a history minor encouraged by another professor who thought I would excel in the field. Thanks to these professors who cared so much about my learning and personal growth, I’ve had an amazing academic experience here at Nazareth. I decided I loved my communication major more than my legal studies major and have since dedicated myself to the field. I’ve had internships for both majors and definitely preferred my communication internship, which led me to search for jobs in that field. Now that I’m a senior, I’ve been able to put all my communication skills to use, securing myself a part-time job as a copywriter/technical editor that will turn into a full-time job after graduation. None of this would have been possible for me without my amazing advisor, Dr. Lagoe, and all the other communication professors who helped me along the way (shout out to Leah Stacy), plus the Center for Life’s Work for helping me connect with the company that hired me.

All of the life-changing experiences I’ve had here at Nazareth wouldn’t have been possible for me at another bigger school, and I’m so grateful I chose Naz because of them. I can’t thank the faculty here enough for all they have done for me, but I hope this gives them an idea of how much I love them!
