What exactly does the School of Management at a Liberal Arts college look like? If I choose a business related degree path, what does Nazareth College have to offer me? Besides the exemplary teachers, pristine facilities, accommodating atmosphere, integrated experiential components… well, I suppose I can’t think of anything. OH WAIT, I forgot about the student run, Undergraduate Association sanctioned clubs and organizations! There is constant evolution is fields such as business and marketing, so you’re going to want real life expearence in addition to what the classroom has to offer, and Nazareth College has those extra opportunities in spades.

When I began my college journey, I was unsure about where exactly I needed to be. I knew I was bending in a business direction, I just wasn’t sure exactly what path would fulfill my interests. I knew I wanted to exercise my leaderships skills and satisfy my communicative nature, but I also wanted to work in an environment that would allow for creative interests and problem solving. Once I had articulated my own desires, I knew Marketing was the right path for me, and it has been a worthwhile adventure thus far.

Marketing and Communication students visit Truth Collective

Among all of the well-established clubs at Naz, which can be found on this link, my personal favorite is the Marketing Club. As one of the founders, and the current president, I take great pride in our little club and I do my best to bring great opportunities and individuals to the school. Marketing, communications, graphic design and many other types of students get to interact with current professionals and learn the tools of the trade from the tradesmen themselves. Our club also routinely orchestrates visits to various firms and agencies in the greater Rochester area. Getting to see and interact with people in a professional environment is always a real treat, and it allows you discern what kind of environment you want to work in once you graduate.

Nazareth’s far reaching alumni network also provides us great opportunities to bring in professionals who were in your shoes not so long ago. They bring a more relatable experience and perspective into our club meetings and allow us to prepare for the ever-changing business environments we one day hope to join. One of our goals as club to seek out employers who the students express interest in. Do you already have an idea of where you’d like to work? Good! We’ll reach out to them and see if they have any interest in speaking to the students. Not sure where you want to go? That’s good too! We can help you figure out what sorts of places you’ll like, and which you won’t.

In addition to Marketing Club, Naz also has a student run agency, Golden Creative, that creates content and campaigns for local organizations in and out of the scholastic relm. Marketing, graphic design and communication students get to engage their skills and passions through the club in a calibur that exceeds the limitations of the classroom and breaches into professional territory. This club is currently helmed by Nicole McGreevy, and, between the two of us, we do the absolute most we can to provide students with the development, networking, and opportunities they want and need to be successful.

A few Club members make a trip to Mason Marketing.

At the start of each semester, we have an Involvement Fair on campus, where all the clubs get together and display the offerings of their organizations; it’s a great chance to see what all the options are, and as the name suggests, really get involved on campus in an enjoyable way. If you have any questions about marketing, the club, or the School of Management at large, feel free to email us at the marketingclub@naz.edu. I will do my best to answer any questions you have!
