When coming to college, I didn’t realize just how many opportunities Naz offers students to relax and enjoy their time at school. Not everything at college is stressful or difficult, and Naz really makes an effort to give students chances to do things or go places they normally wouldn’t. The best part is that most of these events are $5 or less! The below examples happen to be some of my favorite things I’ve experienced at Naz.

Up All Night: Every semester, Naz puts on an event that lasts from 10 pm until 2 am called Up All Night. Each fall, the theme is different. One year it was a Hawaiian party in the gym with tropical birds, caricatures, fruity drinks, and a lei when you walk in. This past year the event was held at Horizon Fun FX, where we got to skate or rollerblade, play laser tag, and enjoy unlimited pizza and soda. Every spring semester, Naz rents out Dave and Buster’s and allows students to take over for the night. Everyone gets a buffet meal and a $20 play card to play whatever games they want. Up All Night always costs $5, but the proceeds go to a charity. This is an event I look forward to every semester, since it’s cheap and always a lot of fun!

$5 Events: Naz is famous for the $5 events they constantly have. They have multiple concerts a semester that cost only $5 for a ticket and transportation (since they are usually in Buffalo). Some concerts I’ve been to with Naz are Imagine Dragons, Blake Shelton, Rihanna, and Luke Bryan. The seats are always great and, for $5, you really can’t beat it! They also have $5 tickets to local musicals and plays. Another event is a $5 Zip Trip. Every year there’s a Zip Trip to a different location that lasts a day and includes some kind of activity. I went to Boston my sophomore year and my $5 paid for transportation and a duck tour, which is a tour of Boston on a vehicle that drives on land and in the water. Since we had all day there, we also went to the aquarium, explored Quincy Market, and finished the day with Lobster Tails from a famous bakery in Boston.

SpringFest: At the end of the spring semester, Naz puts on a festival called SpringFest. SpringFest is a free outdoor event where there’s games, food, prizes, student bands, and a special guest performer. In the past few years, we’ve had We the Kings, Rich Homie Quan, and Kel Mitchell on campus. It’s always a great way to relax before finals and just enjoy time with your friends before leaving for the summer!

Free stuff: It’s not an event, but Naz is notorious for giving away free things. I have more T-shirts, water bottles, and stuffed Swoops (our mascot) than I could count. These items are given away to promote an event that’s happening, as prizes for winning a game, or just because. Naz also gives away a lot of free food, which happens to be my favorite thing to get for free. Clubs have free food during most of their meetings and we have events like food truck rodeos, where we can get anything we want from a variety of local food trucks, and late night bite, where delicious foods like pizza or mozzarella sticks are given away.

There are so many advantages to going to Naz, but the fact that we constantly have different things happening on campus and off that are affordable for all college students is a big one. Naz makes sure that any student can afford to attend and enjoy the opportunities, helping everyone make the most of their time at college.
