Searching for colleges my senior year was difficult. I had no idea what I wanted to major in. It seemed that all my friends around me had their careers and majors all figured out. It felt weird looking for a college when I had no idea what I wanted to focus on. Nazareth came onto my radar and I decided to check it out. I knew after I learned about the Undeclared: Open Path Program that Nazareth was the place for me.

The next step was finding a major, which felt like the most daunting task. I truly had few ideas on what I wanted to major in or do with my life. I felt confused and believed that I would never find a major. The first few weeks of school, nothing changed much. Then we had to do a project in “CDL 101: Exploring Self, Majors, and Careers” to research the different majors here at Nazareth. Through this exercise, I was able to make progress — and it felt  amazing. The Open Path Program does an incredible job allowing you to explore your interests. I was able to take sociology classes, leading me to deeply consider a sociology minor. The program allowed me freedom to explore, including classes such as Exploring Religion and Atlantic World History — with professor Dr. Isabel Córdova, who became my favorite professor and made my First Year Seminar class so enjoyable.

Through CDL, I found my best friend and soon to be roommate next semester. It was so perfect to find a friend who was also undeclared. It felt like I found a person who finally got me! I found more close friends through Naz campus events — including playing “Uno” with a girl from Mississippi, befriending someone who has type one diabetes just like me, and finding my first friends at Bingo during orientation.

I am still currently undeclared but am in classes working towards choosing a major and hopefully two minors as well. Nazareth has allowed me to find passions I never knew that I had — and I get to study abroad this summer in England. I am ecstatic to continue exploring what Nazareth has to offer.
