Dear Future Flyers,

I remember being where you were just about a year ago. I remember coming home and my mom telling me I had a package. I remember running upstairs and seeing the huge envelope (Naz is not subtle with their acceptances) and immediately bursting into tears. I immediately went to Instagram and posted about how excited I was to be #NazBound, and within the hour, Nazareth’s official Instagram commented on my post and I think that, amongst other things, really solidified how in love with Naz I was at the time.  But this isn’t about me, it’s about you.

Right now, everything’s a waiting game. Waiting for your high school graduation, the course survey, the roommate assignments, that one really cool person to message you back on SchoolsApp, but remember, patience is a virtue. All the hard work is over now; be glad and look forward to the road ahead.

Village Bakery

Take each day as it comes to you, because change is on the horizon. That’s so scary, I know, but it’s all worth it. Don’t let yourself fall into the dreaded senior slide this semester. Don’t neglect the love you’re given, because soon that love is going to be a little farther away than usual, and that’s an adjustment in itself. This summer and upcoming fall are going to be the busiest seasons you’ve ever experienced, and that’s good – in fact, it’s great. It means amazing, life-changing things are to come. If you’re nervous about what could be great about this fall, do a little more research. There is always a place to call home at Naz, may it be on a sports team or intramural, one of our clubs (there are so many to choose from), a music ensemble, or just with your roommates, the possibilities are endless. Also, learn about the village of Pittsford, where there are little boutiques and restaurants within walking distance of campus. I’ve spent many mornings with my friends at Village Bakery, walking by the canal, and getting ice cream at Pittsford Dairy. There’s so much to look forward to this fall, I promise.

Future flyers, now is the season of beginnings and endings. You’re beginning your journey to being #NazBound, but at the same time, you’re closing the book on a very comfortable story called “High School”. This is the season of anxious feelings that build up in your stomach, but listen: let those feelings move you. Let those feelings express how excited you are for your future at Naz, and how grateful you are for the experiences that brought you to this point. Let those feelings thank your family for their love, and your friends for their support. Let those feelings grow into pride because, guess what? You did it. Your dedication has brought you this far, and it won’t fail you.

Just remember: It’s always a great day to be a Golden Flyer.

We, the Nazareth community, are all so proud of you, and we’re excited to see you in the fall!

Sincerely, Favor
